Attorney Friedman Gets Felony Sex Charges Reduced to Misdemeanor Assault as Part of Plea Bargain Deal

|

On December 13th 2013, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the former director of the Magnificat High School performing arts center on charges of gross sexual imposition with a student. Ohio attorney Ian N. Friedman and our entire criminal defense legal team took on the case and, throughout the duration, fought hard.

While the case was originally handed over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury, the prosecution advised the case should be handled at the municipal court level instead. As a result of our professional counsel and the actions taken in our client's defense, we were able to negotiate a plea bargain settlement which allowed our client to plead guilty to assault thus avoiding a long prison term and any of the other harsh penalties associated with a felony conviction. On March 13, 2014 our client received his sentence of 5 years probation and 20 days in jail, which we believe to be a fair sentence based on the fact our client has no prior criminal record.

Criminal defense is what our firm does, exclusively. For many years we have helped people protect their freedom and defend their rights when facing serious criminal charges. Our founding attorney was the first ever to be recognized by the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers as the Lawyer of the Year back in 2011, and since that time has been selected for inclusion in the Ohio Super Lawyers® list for 5 consecutive years.
