About the County of Summit
Summit County gained its name due to the fact that the highest geographical point in Ohio is located within the county's borders. Campbell Hill, which is in the city of Bellefontaine, has an elevation of 1,550 feet and is the highest point in the state. Summit County had a population of 541,781 at the time of the 2010 census and is the fourth most populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Akron and its neighboring counties include Cuyahoga County, Geauga County, Medina County, and Stark County.
