Ian N. Friedman Named CMLAA Alumni of the Year

|

Friedman Nemecek & Long, L.L.C., L.L.C. Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce that Attorney Ian N. Friedman has been named Alumni of the Year by the Ohio-Marshall Law Alumni Association (CMLAA). This is a prestigious honor for Mr. Friedman, who graduated from Ohio-Marshall College of Law in 1997, and has since dedicated his 20-year career to criminal defense and individuals who need bold and unwavering advocates when facing all types of criminal charges.

Since graduating from Ohio-Marshall College of Law, Mr. Friedman has been continually involved with the school and its alumni association, through which he passionately supports educational and professional programs, faculty, staff, and the next generation of legal minds. According to Mr. Friedman, a good lawyer is not simply someone who wins cases, but also a person who gives back to the profession and the local communities that place their trust in qualified attorneys during difficult times.

Over the years, Mr. Friedman has demonstrated his dedication to giving back. For example, he was a driving force behind the development of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s New Lawyer Bootcamp, an annual training program that prepares new lawyers to apply practical skills when representing real people. The intensive three-day program, which had its first graduating class in 2013, draws more than 40 judges, lawyers, and legal professionals together for the common goal of educating the future generation of practicing attorneys.

In addition to giving back and supporting new attorneys, Mr. Friedman also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Ohio-Marshall College of Law, where he teaches courses on Computers and Law, one of the most rapidly expanding areas of law where precedent is constantly being established. Because the use of computers and the internet often becomes involved in many other areas of practice and criminal allegations, he believes it is vital for the next generation of lawyers to harness their knowledge of technology for the benefit of clients accused of these crimes, many of which still involve legal gray areas and foreign concepts to most laymen and veteran practitioners. Mr. Friedman continually publishes and lectures around the world on the topic.

Recipients of the CMLAA Alumni of the Year have established themselves not only as attorneys who meet the highest standards of professional excellence, but also as legal minds devoted to the betterment of the legal profession and the future generation of lawyers who will be tasked with handling new legal issues, expanding areas of law, and the rights and futures of real people. Mr. Friedman’s work representing clients is exceeded only by his commitment to the local and legal communities.
